Monica received her Bachelors of Science and Applied Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University and went on to complete her Masters degree at the prestigious Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University in Boston. Since that time she has continued her training in health coaching, culinary nutrition and plant based nutrition. She has a wide breadth of work experience having worked as a private nutritionist as well as consulting for the dairy farmers of Canada. She spent several years with the Halifax Regional School Board, collaborating with Doctors Nova Scotia in implementing a school based health promotion program, “Making the Healthy Choice the Easy Choice”.

Monica has great interest in culinary nutrition, mindful eating, and plant-based nutrition.  She has worked with many types of clients including teens — both one-on-one as well as in group programs.  She offers a comprehensive evidence based weight management group program that addresses chronic diseases such as hypertension, pre-diabetes, diabetes, and elevated cholesterol— thanks to modest weight loss.  It is a lifestyle change program and applies various approaches such as motivational interviewing, behaviour modifications, goal setting, and accountability through journaling and peer support.
